Lafayette SquareA new friend shared this thought on aging in a youth-oriented neighborhood:

“And after 30-something in this neighborhood, you are looked through. You are not looked around, since you are not in the young people’s way. They literally look through you. Your attractiveness to them is [gone].”

It is a sad and sobering statement that reflects not just the ageism inherent in his community, but the lack of value given to the area’s pioneers, those who made the once unsafe area secure for future generations.
